"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a
highway for our God" (Isaiah 40:3 KJV).
The Word Based Counselor is a voice calling. He calls
the client to prepare for the entrance of the Lord. He call to the one
in the wilderness, that place of captivity, affliction, and estrangement
from God.
"Every valley shall be exalted..." (Isaiah 40:4
KJV).
The counselor addresses those who are depressed
because of failure, sorrow, and rejection. He helps them prepare their
hearts with faith through the promises of God so that they may be lifted
up.
"And every mountain and hill shall be made low..."
(Isaiah 40:4 KJV).
He confronts those who are already lifted up, in pride
and self-reliance, who have established their own kingdoms which do not
bow the knee to the Lord. He challenges them to humble themselves and be
brought low.
"And the crooked shall be made straight, and the
rough places plain..." (Isaiah 40:4 KJV).
He calls to those whose hearts and ways are crooked
and rough. Those who are willful, perverse, froward; who resist and
reject the ways of God. He admonishes these to subject their wills to
Christ's Lordship and to renew their hearts and minds.
"And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and
all flesh shall see it together." (Isaiah 40:5 KJV).
As the client prepares his heart, the Lord will enter
in glory. He will bring comfort, healing, and deliverance. He will
establish righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
