The Harlot's Call

Proverbs says:

"For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and smoother than oil is her speech; but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps lay hold of Sheol. She does not ponder the path of life; her ways are unstable, she does not know it. Now then, my sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house" (Proverbs 5:3-8).

Many who come for counseling have realized that they have given their heart to the harlot. As they=ve gone through life, they=ve listened to the harlot=s call: AWhoever is naive, let him turn in here...stolen water is sweet and bread eaten in secret is pleasant"(Proverbs 9:16-17). In recent years, that call has come more and more often by way of the internet. They have responded to the call, and Aa spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they have played the harlot, departing from their God" (Hosea 4:12b).

The actual behavior involved may range from fantasy to pornography to illicit relationship. Whatever patterns it takes, it is idolatry and love for the world. Their heart is divided and the house of their life is not standing firm. They have turned from wholehearted devotion to God, and they and their families are tasting the harlot's ministry of death.

Getting free is seldom easy, but it is God= s will, and therefore it is undeniably doable. Jesus came to set us free. By His blood, through His Word, in His Spirit, the grip of harlotry, idolatry, and sexual sin is broken. In counseling, we work with people to help them lay hold of that freedom, to be restored, and to walk in liberty.
